Former Head of Cabinet of President Clinton and Head of the transition program Obama-Biden, John Podesta is currently president of the Center for American Progress, the most influential American democratic think tank. The seminar has been dedicated to the American and Italian situation of progressive politics, amongst the participants were; Massimo D’Alema, Giuliano Amato, Piero Fassino, Matt Browne, Paolo Guerrieri, Lapo Pistelli, Silvio Fagiolo and Matteo Colaninno.
In the upcoming mid-term elections there will be the risk that the Democrats will lose control in the United States Congress. The reasons for the decline of consensus with president Obama, but also the complex political situation in Italy were amid the discussed topics during a closed-door seminar held on the 30th of August at the Foundation Italianieuropei during a brief visit by John Podesta.
