Origins of the project

On 6th of February 1998 , a group of personalities of the Italian reformist culture convened a public seminar in Rome, at the San Michele institute, which was attended by leading figures from the world of politics, culture, business and labour. The aim was to promote a thorough discussion on the nature and aims of a new cultural foundation directed towards the construction of a common European conscience for the future of the institutions, of the economy and of Italian society.

That exchange of ideas, which saw the participation among others of the current President of the Republic, Giorgio Napolitano, and the former President of the Republic, Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, prepared the ground for conceiving the Italianieuropei Foundation, an autonomous institution which, through public activities, seminars, training and research work, is designed to fuel ideas, projects and scenarios that are to be the breeding ground for the selection of the new elites for the political, cultural, business arenas and for the Public Administration.
In 2000 it was officially recognized by the Ministry for Cultural Heritage.
