EU-Latin America relations

The Foundation for European Progressive Studies, with the support of the Fondazione Italianieuropei, organizes the international conference "EU-Latin America relations: Priorities, Challenges and Opportunities", which will be held in Rome on June 25th. This high-level international conference aims at fostering reflection on the role played today by countries in Latin America, in the aftermath of the financial and economic crisis, in an era where globalisation, the increasing role of China and the challenges raised by climate change do oblige to put fresh thinking on international relations and global governance. Among others, the initiative will feature: José Miguel Insulza, Massimo D’Alema, Enzo Scotti, Alberto Breccia, Carlos Ominami, Carlos Alvarez, Piero Fassino, Moira Paz Estenssoro, Jesus Rodriguez, Paolo Guerrieri, Donato Di Santo, Guillermo Wierzba, Pedro Páez Pérez.

Mediterranean Cooperation: A Way of Renewing Transatlantic Partnership?

Parigi, 21 giugno | Il seminario, a porte chiuse, organizzato dalla Fondazione Italianieuropei in cooperazione con il German Marshall Fund of the United States. Al seminario tra gli altri: Henri Guaino, consigliere speciale del Presidente Sarkozy, Serge Telle, ambasciatore francese presso l'Unione per il Mediterraneo, Ian Lesser, Senior Transatlantic Fellow del GMF, Henri Nallet, ex Ministro francese e vicepresidente della FEPS, e Massimo D'Alema.

Visita alla Chinese Academy of Social Sciences

Una delegazione della Fondazione Italianieuropei si è recata dall’11 al 16 gennaio 2010 in visita a Pechino. Nel corso della missione in Cina la delegazione ha visitato alcuni dei trentasette istituti (fra i quali l’Institute of World Economics and Politics e l’Institute of European Studies) che compongono la prestigiosa Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), uno dei principali centri di ricerca della Repubblica Popolare Cinese, e ha discusso con alcuni dei suoi più illustri rappresentanti di politica ed economia internazionale e di relazioni sino-europee. Grazie a questa visita è stato possibile porre le basi per una futura collaborazione fra la Fondazione e la CASS.

All’inizio di ottobre si è tenuta a Madrid la Global Progress Conference, un meeting di fondazioni progressiste statunitensi ed europee. Nel corso della conferenza sono state presentate molteplici proposte progressiste. Ve ne presentiamo qui una: “The European Paradox ”, di Matt Browne, Ruy Teixeira e John Halpin, del Center for American Progress.

The European Paradox

At the beginning of October was held in Madrid the Global Progress Conference, “Towards a Global New Deal ”, a meeting of US and European progressive foundations, including Italianieuropei, which aimed at forging a common progressive agenda to respond to the challenges of the global crisis.

During the conference, organized by the Center for American Progress and the Fundación IDEAS , participants have been submitted several progressive proposals. Here you can find “Beyond the Third Way”, written by some scholars of the CAP. This short article is based on the longer essay “The European Paradox ”, by Matt Browne, Ruy Teixeira and John Halpin.

Obama: One Year After

One year after Barack Obama's election to the presidency of the United States, the Istituto per gli Studi di Politica Internazionale (ISPI) and the Fondazione Italianieuropei organize the conference "Obama: One Year After" to discuss the first year of the Obama administration. Launch of the report on Euro-Med relations

On the occasion of the release of the first report on the Euro-Mediterranean "The Euro-Mediterranean Dialogue: prospects for an area of prosperity and security", the Foundation for European Progressive Studies and Fondazione Italianieuropei will hold a launch event in Brussels. The initiative will be held at the Committee of the Region on 12 May 2009 at 4.30 p.m.

Launch of the report on Euro-Med relations

The Foundation for European Progressive Studies and Fondazione Italianieuropei launched on May 12 in Brussels the first report on Euro-Mediterranean relations The Euro-Mediterranean Dialogue: prospects for an area of prosperity and security. The initiative was held at the Committee of the Regions (room 51), rue Belliard 101, and featured: Giuliano Amato, Eneko Landaburu, Ferruccio Pastore and Alfred Tovias. The debate was moderated by Ernst Stetter and Andrea Peruzy.
